Meet Jesus

We’d love to help you discover more about who Jesus is and what it means to follow him today.

The Bible says that Jesus is the Messiah (Christ), the Son of God (Mark 1:1). The word “Messiah”, which is also translated Christ, refers to God’s anointed one who rules on God’s behalf.

Even if you haven’t read the Gospels (four biographies of Jesus’ life in the Bible), you probably have an opinion about Jesus based on culture or hear-say. Perhaps you think he’s a wise teacher, a prophet, or a good example. Christians believe these and far more!

Jesus himself said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” John 14:6-7

A Christian statement of faith, called the Nicene Creed, has been recited since the fourth century AD and says this: “We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,…Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfilment of the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.”

Everybody’s invited to follow Jesus as the way to God, eternal life, abundant joy, and belonging in God’s family!
